Frequently asked Questions.
No Gleammachine is not a franchise it is purely owned by myself, I started my business due to a passion & love for producing vehicles to a high standard of detail and I work alone so that every vehicle I prepare get's my undivided attention.
How does Detailing differ from Valeting?
Detailing requires far more attention using fine & often more expensive products and techniques to enhance, correct and protect the finish of the vehicle with every aspect taken into account.
What is the difference between Polish and Wax?
Polish is a blend of oils that are absorbed by the paint in the same way your skin would absorb a moisturiser, they also contain micro abrasives that combined with a machine polisher break down under heat build up to remove paint defects creating a deep wet look gloss but offers no protection.
Wax works to protect the finish by forming a thin protective barrier on top of the paintwork and offers no cleaning or corrective abilitys.
Your prices seem expensive how are they justified?
My prices are based around a rate of £30 per hour for a service that is highly skilled with every care and attention to detail taken into account, whilst using the finest quality products and techniques available.
Most paint correctional details take between 10-24 hrs (1-3 days) to complete of which the customer is made aware of before commencing and the price is agreed so there are no hidden costs or hourly labour charges.
Gleammachine has invested heavily in the best equipment, products and insurance to aid peace of mind to you the customer, that your vehicle is receiving the best possible care and attention from one of the most professional & experienced detailers in the South East of England.
My car has had the Paint protection done at the dealership can you still wax it?
Yes, applying wax has no effect on the sealant this is a common myth that main dealers lead you to believe, it is a marketing ploy when they tell you that you won't need to touch the paintwork for 3 years as they have over 100% mark up on this application and if not applied correctly or allowed to cure for enough time it's rendered worthless.
What do you need from me?
A fully insured mobile service is offered, although we will require a power point for our extension lead, the vehicle opened with adequate access either side of the vehicle, and any personal belongings to be cleared.
In addition I am able to offer secure covered facilities in Thurrock/Essex RM16 if you prefer to have the work carried out at my premises.
Do I need to book?
Yes we require your vehicle to be booked in and all customers are required to make an appointment which if longer than a week away I will often call to confirm 2 days in advance.
Correctional & enhancement bookings may require a £50.00 deposit which is offset against the full price once completed.
Do you use Acid or harmful chemicals?
No, all of the products and chemicals we use are from the industries leading manufacturers and have undergone rigorous testing before allowed on the open market.
The products we use are ph controlled detergents and citrus based cleaners combined with fine waxes and polishes which are reflected in the price.
We leave the acid based products to the less reputable handwash and valeting outfits who charge less because they are not concerned about your repeat business.
What if I need to cancel my appointment?
We would normally require a minimum 72 hrs notice if you wish to cancel your appointment, so to give us a chance to replace the work otherwise a cancellation charge may be incured or deposit lost.
We understand that problems arise at the last minute and we are discretionary towards these and on most occasions will re-book the appointment to another date.
As with the British weather being what it is I may have to re-book appointments with you.
Will my car look like new when it's finished?
This depends greatly on the vehicles age, appearance and level of detailing service, I will guarantee it to be thoroughly cleaned, polished to a safe level whilst bringing out the maximum potential in the vehicles appearance and protected.
In most cases I will inspect your vehicle and meet the customer to find out their requirements before taking the booking.
Do you only detail vehicles for private customers?
No, we are fortunate to regularly maintain both private customers, trade and businesses over periods that suit their situations be it fortnightly, monthly or quarterly with car-care plans often introduced.
